Job Title: Data Lake Technical Project Manager (Contract)

Location: Remote (with occasional travel required)

Contract Length: 10 Months (end of 2025)

Rate: Up to £589 per day (Inside IR35)

Overview:We are seeking an experienced Data Lake Technical Project Manager to lead the design and build of a Microsoft Azure-based data lake. This high-profile role will require the candidate to manage both business change and technical delivery for a complex, enterprise-scale data project, including interfaces, data feeds, reporting, and MI capabilities to support business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Delivery Management: Lead the overall project/workstream, ensuring successful delivery and meeting business objectives. Work with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to manage change and technical outcomes.
  • Planning & Reporting: Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including the REAP, in Microsoft Project. Present management-level reporting, including milestones, RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies), and status updates.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with and manage large teams, workstream leads, and additional business stakeholders. Communicate project progress, risks, and priorities effectively.
  • Technical Oversight: Oversee the design, build, and implementation of a Microsoft Azure data lake, ensuring high-quality integration, traceability of requirements, and successful delivery of data feeds and reporting functionality.
  • Supplier & Integration Management: Manage suppliers, overseeing work and deliverables, conducting VM reviews, and ensuring proper integration points and hand-offs are executed.
  • Change Management: Ensure compliance with change standards and maintain the required documentation, including minutes, actions, and artefacts. Help guide business users through any necessary business change processes.
  • Project Reporting: Provide consistent project/workstream-level reporting and manage RAID, ensuring transparent communication with management and stakeholders.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven Experience: Strong experience managing the delivery of Data Lake projects, ideally within a Microsoft Azure environment.
  • Payments Background: Experience in delivering payment-related projects is highly desirable.
  • Project Management Expertise: Expert in developing and managing project delivery plans, including working with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong organisational skills, with the ability to track documentation, actions, and requirements.
  • Technical & Business Understanding: A solid understanding of both technical and business aspects of data lake design and implementation, particularly integration and reporting.
  • Change Management: Ability to lead and manage business change while keeping technical delivery on track.
