Job Title: SolicitorLocation: Glasgow, G1 areaRate: £30.92 per hourHours: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pmContract: 4 weeks initially, with potential to be extendedWe are seeking an experienced and proactive Solicitor to join our client's team on a temporary basis, providing essential legal support and advice. You will be the primary point of contact for litigation matters, offering cost-effective legal services and contributing to a range of business areas including social housing, corporate governance, contract law, and debt recovery. This is an exciting opportunity to make an impact within a dynamic, community-focused organisation.Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice and litigation support across various areas, including corporate, housing law, and debt recovery.
  • Manage litigation cases, including drafting court papers, representing the Group in court, and resolving disputes through negotiation.
  • Work closely with Local Housing Organisations (LHOs) to handle cases related to anti-social tenants, providing legal guidance in partnership with ASBIP Officers.
  • Offer strategic input into the development of corporate policy and respond to relevant consultations.
  • Ensure effective working policies and practices within the legal department.
  • Contribute to training and information sessions to enhance staff knowledge and confidence in handling legal matters.
  • Build and maintain effective networks across the Group to support the delivery of a high-quality legal service.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified solicitor with a current practising certificate.
  • Diploma in Legal Practice or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable track record in delivering legal services within a results-oriented environment.
  • Relevant experience in corporate, litigation, and legal advisory work.
  • Working knowledge or interest in social housing law, corporate governance, contract law, reparation, or debt recovery is desirable.
  • Ability to manage complex legal issues with an understanding of the political and organisational sensitivities involved.
  • Minimum of 5 years' post-qualifying experience (for SCP 45-48) with proven ability to handle a complex caseload autonomously.
