HVAC Engineer

Our client, an established defence manufacturing firm, are seeking experienced HVAC Engineers to join them. This is the perfect role for a CIBSE Chartered professional with extensive HVAC systems knowledge (design, integration & support).

What the role of the HVAC Engineer entails:

Some of the main duties of the HVAC Engineer will include:

  • Carry out relatively complex technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability
  • Carry out investigations into operational problems/emergent issues and develop and prepare solutions
  • Take ownership of scope within your role and make engineering decisions within your sphere of responsibility
  • Prepare specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained
  • Act as main point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve relatively complex problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives
  • Provide Progress Reports for allocated work packages, ensuring that the agreed scope is delivered within budget
  • Participate fully in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need
  • Develop the team through the L&D and performance management process, identifying training and development requirements and skill gaps

What experience you need to be the successful HVAC Engineer:

Essential

  • Experience and expertise in Marine Engineering Systems, Defence or similar industry sector
  • Experience in the design, build, integration, support and operation of HVAC Systems
  • Knowledge and experience of shipbuilding
  • Applicants should be a Chartered Engineer or hold another equivalent professional registration

Desirable

  • Knowledge of processes and tools used in Marine Engineering
  • Awareness of Life Cycle Management reviews of bids and programmes
  • Experience in requirements and acceptance
  • Experience in Naval Ships
  • Understands how marine engineering integrates into other technologies and products
  • Commercial Awareness
