Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering – Glasgow

About the Company:
Our esteemed client, a leading civil engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team. Renowned for their expertise in the Water, Marine, and Power sectors, the company has built a strong reputation and continues to experience sustained growth and success, particularly within Scotland’s dynamic market.

Role Overview:
As a Quantity Surveyor working on Scottish Water projects, you will collaborate closely with the commercial team, overseeing multiple projects from tender stage through to final account. Your role will be to provide vital commercial support to operational teams and other stakeholders as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monthly Cost Value Reconciliations: Conducting detailed cost analyses and reporting.
  • Valuations Management: Maximising valuations, ensuring certifications, and securing prompt payments.
  • Contract Variations: Managing and negotiating contract variations within agreed timescales.
  • Cost Forecasting: Providing accurate cost and value forecasts across all trades.
  • Operational Collaboration: Working closely with the operational team to secure resources and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Progress Monitoring: Overseeing on-site progress and issuing contractual notices as necessary.
  • Quotation Compliance: Reviewing quotations to ensure compliance with specifications and securing competitive bids.
  • Final Accounts Preparation: Leading the preparation and settlement of final accounts.
  • Subcontractor Management: Managing subcontractor accounts to optimise contract performance.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience: Proven background in Quantity Surveying within Civil Engineering, particularly in water or marine projects.
  • NEC Expertise: Strong knowledge and experience with NEC contract protocols.
  • Skills: Methodical, detail-oriented, and possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
