Your new companyAn exciting opportunity has arisen. Hays is collaborating with a well-established leading supplier based in Gloucester. We are now looking for a Finance Assistant with credit control and purchase ledger experience to support our client on a full-time and permanent basis, in their finance team, due to continued growth within the business.

Work hours for this position are typically 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, for 40 hours per week with a one-hour lunch.

Salary is £25k - £30k, dependent on experience

Your new roleAs a Finance Assistant, in this particular role, you will be responsible for carrying out the following duties:

  • To chase debt from clients
  • You will post receipts and deal with expenses
  • Processing purchase invoices and statement reconciliations
  • To ensure both the purchase ledger and sales ledger runs smoothly
  • As an experienced Credit Controller/Finance Assistant, you will also liaise with sites to resolve queries and gather information
  • Carry out verbal and written communications with both suppliers and customers
  • Support the wider finance team and Finance Managers with general admin and ad-hoc duties

What you'll need to succeedIn order to be a successful candidate in light of the Accounts Assistant position, you will need:

  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting packages such as, Sage 200
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • To have at least one year of experience working in a similar role or in a finance team
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to be self-sufficient, prioritise workload and to be organised
