Legal Cashier / Accounts Assistant Location: GloucesterPosition: Full-Service Legal Cashier with a Focus on ConveyancingType: Full-Time TSR Legal are proud to be working with a well-established law firm based in Gloucester, renowned for delivering comprehensive legal services with a commitment to excellence and client satisfaction. The firm covers a broad spectrum of legal disciplines, with a robust focus on conveyancing. They are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Cashier to join their dynamic team. Role Overview:As a Legal Cashier, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial operations of the firm. Your primary focus will be on conveyancing transactions, but you will also be responsible for providing full-service cashier duties across all departments. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily financial transactions, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules.
  • Process client and office account payments, including CHAPS, BACS, and cheque payments.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and handle petty cash.
  • Monitor and manage client account balances and ensure timely transfer of funds.
  • Process conveyancing completions, including calculating and arranging payments of Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) and Land Registry fees.
  • Prepare and manage VAT returns and ensure timely submission.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial procedures.
  • Liaise with solicitors, clients, and external bodies to resolve financial queries.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and produce regular financial reports.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience as a Legal Cashier, preferably within a conveyancing-focused role.
  • Strong understanding of the SRA Accounts Rules and other relevant regulations.
  • Proficiency in legal accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
