We have an exciting new role become available for a Data Quality Officer to work for Gloucestershire South Council at their offices in Yate.

This is a temporary ongoing position working hybrid Monday to Friday 37 hours a week.

What you will be doing:

You will be working closely with Performance and Intelligence and Operational colleagues to work towards strengthening the departments Data and Technology. Specific activities include:

  • Liaise with and support Data Stewards and Business System Owners, to verify and address issues as they highlight and escalate them.
  • Support in the definition and documentation of data in data asset inventory, and business systems and processes in the system inventory.
  • Understand operational data and data quality issues and highlight potential improvements in processes and user training to improve data at its collection points.
  • Working with operational staff to perform Data cleansing activities including identifying and removing errors, inconsistencies, duplications, and missing data.
  • Support activities implementation and embedding of the Departments Technology Strategy and Data Strategies.
  • Using your systems and technical knowledge, use SQL and PowerBI systems, and to produce process mapping and flow diagrams.
  • Encourage a positive culture around Data and Technology used within the Department, by providing support to operational staff, identifying best practices and supporting implementation of enhancements across our systems.
  • Support the implementation of technical solutions in collaboration with senior operations staff, service users and ITD ensuring functionality is adequately utilised but also further enhance consistency in our strategic approach to technology and data.

Role Requirements:

  • Educated to degree standard, preferably one of computer science, information management, and/or statistical content, or with substantial experience in a similar role
  • Experience in Data Governance, and/or master data management (MDM)
  • Demonstrable advanced report writing knowledge of SQL or other relational database languages.
  • Experience of developing performance reporting in a complex environment including effective engagement with users and senior managers. This will include an awareness of the techniques or technologies, and of managing and prioritising demands within fixed timescales
  • You must have advanced-level experience in using reporting and analytical software such as PowerBI (or similar) and high-level Excel skills (or similar).
