Job Title: COSHH Assessor Grade: Fixed term contract (12 months)Qualifications: *= 2 years' experience in undertaking COSHH assessments in a high hazard environment. *Knowledge of industrial Chemistry ideally including that of electroplating *Able to pick up and use bespoke IT system for the assessment of the chemical approvals. *CRB authorisation.Responsible to: The Health, Safety & Environment Manager.Hours of work: Full-time, 08:00- 16:30 Mon-Thrs 08:00-12:30 Fri. Working Relationships: The post holder is required to:*Support the HS&E Department with the creation and recording of COSHH *Work with the Departmental Managers/Team leaders and the Safety Reps in the departments to identify and complete assessments.Duties and Responsibilities: The post holder will be required to: *Create COSHH assessments from the gathering of SDS data and proposed operational usage to the specification of engineering controls such as LEV and the use of specific PPE as required. *Work with the HS&E advisors in the approval of new materials and chemicals, ensuring that suitable and sufficient assessments are created, or reviewed where already in use. *Record all COSHH risk assessments in the Safran software system. Note operational controls and actions in the Mango software system for the tracking to closure of mitigation actions.*Work with the HS&E Advisors to identify suitable PPE for the use of employees when working with chemicals.Skills:The post holder must be able to operate independently and flexibly, but within pre-determined guidelines and procedures. They must be able to demonstrate a high degree of discretion and sensitivity whilst maintaining company confidentiality. They will have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills along with tact and diplomacy. They will have experience of working in a manufacturing environment Computer literate and with good administrative ability.SharePoint, Mango and Word skills advantageous.
