BJ117 - Technical Design EngineerLocation: Innsworth, GloucesterSalary: £45,000 Per AnnumWorking Hours: Monday - Friday (9am - 5pm)Overview:First Military Recruitment are currently supporting one of our established and expanding HVAC clients within Gloucestershire in their search for an experienced Technical Design EngineerThis role involves designing and engineering smoke ventilation systems in compliance with the latest fire safety and building regulationsDuties and Responsibilities:
- Working as a member of the design team alongside other designers and reporting to the Technical Director
- Design and develop smoke ventilation systems (natural and mechanical) from concept through to construction issue
- Create accurate technical drawings, schematics, and layout plans using AutoCAD
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure project requirements are met
- Prepare design reports, including relevant calculations and equipment specifications
- Ensure all designs comply with current standards
- Support project delivery teams with design clarifications and technical queries
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in designing smoke ventilation systems (natural and mechanical)
- Strong understanding of UK smoke control regulations and standards (e.g., ADB, BS 9991, BS 7346)
- Proficient in AutoCAD drawings software
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical integration in building systems
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to life safety compliance
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline
