Your new companyYou'll be joining a global engineering business who are at the forefront of design, supply and services of their specialist product. Based in the Southwest, their systems are used both in the UK and globally, providing their services and systems to a wide variety of industries, from oil & gas, water, power and industrial plants. Theyare currently committed to achieving a point at which their engineering andactivities result in no net addition of greenhouse gases to the climate, withESG is at the forefront of their innovation.Your new roleIn this standalone role, you'll work closely with all areas of the group to implement a global purchasing strategy to transition the business away from transactional to tactical purchasing. This role will focus on big-ticket engineered components (engines, motors, controls, mechanical seals, bearing houses etc.) with an initial scope of analysing purchasing data, supply base and strategic planning. You will take a cost-effective approach by consolidating suppliers, leveraging the organisation's purchasing power and managing long-term contracts efficiently.Thereon after, you'll develop a purchasing framework for global sites to ensure a smooth purchasing process and maximise the buying value for all subsidiaries under the group. As this role has a global presence, you will need to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, from c-suite to shop-floor workers to gather process, requirements and to manage change.This is an exciting, green-field role in which the candidate will have autonomy to impact change with buy-in from c-suite level with the initial scope of supply chain improvement in place.Main responsibilities:

  • Meeting with suppliers to negotiate price and commercial terms
  • Develop a purchasing framework / matrix to ensure consistency across the business
  • Identifying opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships with clients
  • Identifying opportunities to leverage international buying power to maximise supply chain value
  • Reviewing supplier performance
  • Identifying new suppliers to reduce risk in the supply chain and to make it more robust
  • Working closely with the CEOs and leads in the international sites to understand purchasing issues at a local level.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A minimum of 5 years in a Procurement-facing role, with 10-15 years being the desirable level
  • A procurement background within the engineering / manufacturing sector, ideally with big-ticket items being at the forefront
  • Experience working to enhance supply chain / procurement operations in a global setting
  • An all-round confident & effective communicator, with the ability to make strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers at c-suite level.
  • A strong negotiator who is commercially focused
  • Strong analytical skills
  • International travel will be a part of this role, so the successful candidate will need to be comfortable with this
