Estate Manager - hotel and grounds - East Yorkshire

As Estate Manager you will be responsible for making sure that all buildings and the 17-acre grounds are maintained to a high standard. On a day-to-day basis, the role will be the first point of contact for maintenance requests, ensuring H&S requirements and documentation are current, schedule and plan essential works and manage the departmental budget. Alongside the ongoing management of the estate, the Estate Manager role will be an integral part in the continual planning and development of the site and will act as an effective link between onsite contractors and the management team. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and collaborative with excellent team management skills and hold a recognised H&S qualification. The ability to be able to solve minor onsite maintenance issues quickly is essential.

As Estate Manager you will communicate effectively between the team and any external contractors. Ensure that the General Manager is kept abreast of the status of all on-going reactive and planned work as well as requiring the appropriate authority to proceed with works when needed. You will manage the maintenance and safety procedures for the on-site swimming pool.

The grounds and buildings are continually being developed and upgraded; the Estate Manager is responsible for the management of these projects.

The role will provide line management and leadership to the Estate Team comprising a Head Gardener & 3 groundsmen.

The Estate Manager is the in-house advisor on the range of H&S requirements within the company and is responsible for ensuring that the business meets safety standards and holds all necessary certification.

Essential Qualities: - A track record of management within Facilities Management, building maintenance or a related area is essential

- Appropriate professional training and qualifications to be able to advise and lead on H&S within the business e.g IOSH/NEBOSH. Full understanding of H&S procedures and practice as it applies to the workplace undertaken in a facilities or estate management role.

- Collaborative manager and with a track record of motivating and developing direct reports and team members

- Responsive to needs of business / guests and clients and an eye for detail and a commitment to high standards. Ability to multitask and prioritise workload and agree priorities of team

- Excellent oral and written communication skills, supported by strong interpersonal, relationship building. Demonstrable ability to formulate operational ideas and solutions and communicate them effectively to non-experts

- Ability to make clear and confident decisions, based on knowledge, skills and previous experience in a Facilities Management/ Estates role

- Demonstrable project management experience.

- Good working IT skills (Outlook, Excel and Word essential)

Experience with heritage buildings is beneficial
