KS1 Learning Support Assistant – Gosport area

About the School:
The school is an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ primary school in the Gosport area. They are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to start in the new academic year, on a full-time basis with the possibility of becoming a permanent role.
Job Description:
The Support Staff role encompasses diverse responsibilities focused on aiding both students and teachers. You will actively contribute to the learning process by working alongside teaching staff to help plan and deliver lessons across a variety of subjects, including phonics interventions. Your tasks will involve offering personalised support to students, such as providing one-on-one assistance to children with additional needs, ensuring they receive the guidance necessary for their academic development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe and secure environment within the school and during off-site activities.
- Follow school policies as outlined in official documents and under the guidance of the Headteacher.
- Act as a positive representative of the school in the community.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information encountered during your duties.
- Comply with the school’s Equal Opportunities policy.
- Adhere to the Health and Safety policy, ensuring correct procedures are followed during accidents or incidents.
- Deliver phonics lessons through an intervention program.
- Support pupils’ development and provide pastoral care.
- Monitor and manage pupil behaviour throughout the school day, including lunch and break times (or as hours allow), in line with school policies and individual behaviour management plans.
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) or in a similar role within an educational setting is preferred.
- A passion for education and dedication to supporting students' academic and personal growth.
- Experience in a KS1 and KS2 environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently.
- Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards challenges.
- Experience with Special Educational Needs (SEN) children is an advantage.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Relevant qualifications in Teaching Assistance or Education are advantageous but not essential.
