GSL Education are striving to look for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant in the historic town of Grantham. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a nurturing environment, providing essential support to students who need it most.

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to a specific student, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals. This position involves close collaboration with the classroom teacher and other support staff to create a positive and effective learning experience for the student.

Responsibilities of the 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

  • Work closely with the classroom teacher to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailor lessons to the student's requirements.
  • Provide dedicated one-on-one assistance to the assigned student, adapting support strategies to meet their unique learning needs.
  • Track and report on the student’s progress, adjusting support strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Employ appropriate behaviour management techniques to create a positive and conducive learning environment.
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of educational materials and resources tailored to the student's needs.
  • Offer emotional and motivational support to help the student develop confidence and self-esteem.

Requirements of the 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or working with children is highly desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education or special educational needs support is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, patient, empathetic and understanding approach to engaging with students, staff and families.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
