SEMH Teaching Assistant

Role Overview:

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH needs within the classroom and throughout the school environment. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide tailored support, helping to foster a positive and nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage in learning and develop their social and emotional skills.
- Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
- Foster a safe and supportive classroom environment, promoting positive behaviour and conflict resolution.
- Monitor and record students' progress, behaviour, and emotional well-being, providing feedback to teachers and other professionals.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to the student's support.
- Participate in training and professional development to continually improve your skills and knowledge.

Key Requirements:

- Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting.
- Understanding of SEMH issues and effective strategies for supporting students with these needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A relevant qualification in education, child development, or a related field (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable.
- Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
