SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and patient Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants due to increased demand from schools in the Chester area. The successful candidate will work closely with autistic pupils, providing tailored support to enhance their educational experience and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students, helping them with classwork and social interaction.

  • Collaborate with teachers and SEN coordinators to develop effective strategies and interventions.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Support students in developing social skills and managing challenging behaviours.

  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs.

  • Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and effective support strategies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the development of children with SEN.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) are desirable but not essential.
