Our client is seeking a qualified or QBE accountant who is forward thinking and enthusiastic to lead and manage a small team. The successful candidate will report directly to the Directors and be responsible for maintaining the financial processes, preparing year-end accounts, and managing payroll.

Responsibilities of an Accounts Manager:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the accounts department.
  • Prepare multi sets of year-end accounts to trial balance.
  • Maintain personal account records and assist with self-Assessment submissions.
  • Handle loans, mortgage schedules, and manage multiple bank accounts.
  • Sales and purchase ledger checks, bank statement uploads, and reconciliation.
  • Process payroll for salaried, hourly, and weekly staff, including pension and HMRC submissions.
  • Ensure timely VAT returns, manage payment runs, and handle credit card reconciliations.
  • Manage pension enrolments, PAYE submissions, and salary payments.
  • Maintain asset and liability schedules and manage payroll software.

Requirements to be successful as an Accounts Manager:

  • Qualified or QBE Accountant with experience of managing a small team. This role would also be suitable for someone who is looking to move out of practice.
  • Strong financial management experience with proficiency in Xero or similar accounting software.
  • Proven experience in payroll management, including pensions and HMRC submissions.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with staff and external stakeholders and committed to making a positive contribution to the college.
