Our client, a specialist in the life science, medical, and manufacturing sectors, is currently seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their team. This permanent position involves the service, routine maintenance, breakdown support, and repair of a range of X-ray products supplied by our client. The successful candidate will be responsible for both in-house and on-site commissioning of new systems.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing routine service, maintenance, and repairs on Inspection Systems products at customer sites in the UK and abroad
    • Not away every week, usually away for 1 week each month but this is subject to vary
    • They will book the hotel in advance and reimburse all expenses
    • Even when away, it'll be within the 39 hours, unless it goes across the weekend and then they will get overtime
    • Overtime during a week is time and a third, Saturday and Sunday is time and a half
    • Bank Holidays is Double time
  • Diagnosing faults and recommending necessary corrections and improvements
  • Providing breakdown support and repair response for all supplied X-ray products
  • Commissioning new systems both in-house and on-site
  • Liaising constantly with customers to measure corrective actions for existing products
  • Contributing actively to product development for obsolescence upgrades and implementing effective preventative actions
  • Fault could be electrical, mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic.
  • Live testing and calibration of x-ray equipment as part of routine periodic maintenance. 1-3 times per month.
  • Resolving discrepancies between design and as-built discovered during Installation & commissioning of new systems


Job Requirements:

  • Background in electrical and mechanical engineering with strong hands-on skills
  • Competence in the safe use of electrical test and measurement equipme
  • Organisation and supervision of performance demonstrations, including interfacing with sales and software personnel for system calibrations and radiographic procedure development
  • Solid understanding of QA and Safety management procedures
  • On call for out-of-office support duties on a rotational basis, as and when required by customers
  • Holding a full, clean, UK driving licence
  • Eligibility to obtain SC or DV security clearance


Special Skills Required:

  • Broad knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering practices
  • High level of competency in practical skills
  • Competent in the safe use of electrical test and measurement equipment
