Urgent requirement for an experienced finance business controller to work for my client in Guildford (with free parking - also accessible via public transport).

Day rate £340 - 350 paye (Ltd c £430 - 445) - note this role is inside IR35

Duration: 3 to 4 months (stc)

Hours of work are 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday (office based 4 days per week with 1 day working from home) - there may be some flex on start/finish times.

You will need to be available from October (ideally the start!).

My client is seeking a Financial Business Controller to join their Senior Leadership Team and take full responsibility for all financial aspects of the UK business. This role is pivotal in ensuring that their business strategy is financially robust, integrated into our budgeting processes, and tracked against appropriate financial review mechanisms. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong track record in a similar role and the ability to influence and drive business performance.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director and Leadership team to develop strategic financial plans.
  • Continuously improve finance-related processes, manage working capital, and track profit improvement projects.
  • Advise the Leadership team on financial implications of business activities and support planning initiatives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate production of monthly and annual reports, alongside budget analysis.
  • Provide financial trends, forecasts, and insights to drive the business forward.
  • Work closely with finance partners and the Finance Director Ireland.
  • Lead the annual budget process and oversee its preparation.
  • Monitor cash-flows, accounts, and other financial transactions, ensuring timely debt collection.
  • Develop and oversee the risk management process.
  • Represent finance in project or transformation programmes within the business.
  • Manage compliance and internal control activities, including non-financial reporting.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified finance professional (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a financial/business controller role, preferably in a large site or multi-site context.
  • Strategic planning expertise and a sound understanding of financial strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage financial risk and control activities in a complex business environment.
  • Strong technical background with experience in managing monthly reporting and month-end processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with finance systems.
  • Skilled communicator who can inspire confidence, influence, and motivate others.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
