Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Freelance Building Surveyor to join our clients team, managing local authority construction projects in Surrey. This is a rolling contract position offering the opportunity to work on a variety of projects within the public sector. Our client is a prominent consultancy firm, renowned for their comprehensive expertise and long-standing relationship with local authorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee local authority construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Utilize the NEC (New Engineering Contract) form of contract to ensure effective project management, including contract administration, cost management, and risk mitigation.
  • Conduct site inspections, surveys, and assessments to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare detailed reports, including condition surveys, defect diagnosis, and feasibility studies.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to provide expert advice and ensure clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Resolve any issues or disputes that arise, maintaining a focus on project objectives and client satisfaction.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations and other relevant legislation.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Building Surveyor, with a strong background in managing construction projects for local authorities.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with the NEC form of contract is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Professional qualifications in Building Surveying (MRICS or equivalent) are highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools used in building surveying and project management.
