Lead Hardware Engineer (DV Eligibility)

Are you a talented hardware engineer looking for your next challenge? We are seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer to join a specialist technology consultancy working on cutting-edge projects in cyber security, digital signal processing, and high-speed data processing. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex hardware solutions for government and commercial clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement signal, image, or data processing algorithms in VHDL for FPGAs.
  • Develop PCBs incorporating FPGAs, SoCs, high-speed network interfaces, and analogue/RF signal filtering.
  • Perform schematic capture using OrCAD.
  • Manage PCB layout, fabrication, and assembly subcontractors.
  • Commission and test PCBs, including writing test firmware and software.
  • Develop Linux device drivers for hardware.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A self-motivated individual capable of working independently.
  • A strong academic background, typically with a 1st or 2:1 degree (or PhD) in a numerate discipline.
  • Strong A-level results, typically including A*/A grades in Maths and Physics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • FPGA development in VHDL.
    • PCB design and layout.
    • Embedded C/C++ software development.
