Finance Director

CMA Executive are delighted to be working with a well-established, privately-owned construction and civil engineering business, seeking an interim Finance Director.  We are looking for someone who can start ASAP and can quickly get their hands around a mid-sized, complicated business.

This role is reporting directly into the board and will be the number one role in finance. It will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects and ensuring the business is financially sound and aligned with its growth objectives.

The successful candidate will lead financial strategy, manage key financial processes, and act as a trusted advisor to the executive team, board, and stakeholders. This is a critical role in a fast-paced, complex environment.

What will the Interim Finance Director role involve?

Short term task include:

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and consolidated accounts, including various MI for the business including Group business plans and cashflows.  
• Year-end activities including the preparation of financial accounts for audit.  
• Manage all daily accounting functions.  
• Work closely with Audit Firm and Bank.

Suitable Candidate for the Finance Director vacancy:

• Proven experience as a Finance Director or in a similar senior financial leadership role, ideally within the construction, engineering, or similarly complex industries.
• Strong strategic, analytical, and operational finance skills, with the ability to balance high-level strategy with hands-on management.
• Experience managing complex financial environments and guiding companies through change or growth phases.
• Immediate availability or ability to start quickly, with an openness to consider a potential temp-to-perm arrangement..
