Our client, Future Biogas, is a leader in the UK's anaerobic digestion (AD) industry, developing and operating 11 AD plants across the UK. With expertise across development, operations, maintenance, and compliance, they are at the forefront of the green energy sector.

Entering a new growth phase, pioneering unsubsidised green gas production with carbon sequestration to help corporates decarbonise, they have built strong partnerships to support major net-zero commitments.

The Role

As Policy Advisor, you'll play a key role in shaping policies and regulations that support the long-term success of the AD and Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) industries. This is a high-impact position that involves engaging with key stakeholders, influencing decision-makers, and ensuring the business is well-positioned in policy discussions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy & Regulatory Insight: Stay ahead of UK and European policy developments impacting anaerobic digestion, carbon capture, sustainability, and green gas markets.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent Future Biogas at trade associations, working groups, and industry events, forging relationships with government bodies, MPs, and policymakers.
  • Consultation & Advocacy: Lead the development of responses to government consultations, working closely with key industry groups such as REA, ADBA, and NFU.
  • Internal & External Communication: Keep internal teams informed about policy changes, deliver presentations and webinars, and provide expert insights.
  • Thought Leadership: Write engaging articles on renewables, anaerobic digestion, and the UK's net-zero journey, positioning Future Biogas as an industry leader.
  • Commercial Insights: Identify emerging commercial opportunities related to policy developments and maintain strong networks across the renewables, agriculture, and CCS sectors.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex policy into clear insights.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with confidence in engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive and strategic mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities and drive change.
  • Experience working with policy, government affairs, or regulatory teams in an energy, environment, or sustainability-related field would be an advantage.
