Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a dynamic secondary school in Guildford. The ideal candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support students in their learning journey, fostering confidence, independence, and academic progress. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students during lessons.
  • Assist students with additional needs, including SEN, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Help prepare and adapt classroom resources to meet individual learning needs.
  • Support students’ personal and emotional development, building positive relationships.
  • Encourage active participation and engagement in lessons and extracurricular activities.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and the SENCO.
  • Promote positive behaviour and reinforce school policies and values.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and welcoming classroom environment, including helping during practical lessons.
  • Supervise students during break times, trips, or activities as needed.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and staff.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude to adapt to various classroom situations.
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of supporting students with additional needs, including SEN and EAL.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices in schools.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (minimum grade C/4).
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child development are advantageous.
