Mental Health Support Worker LOCATION:              GuildfordSALARY:                  £13.25 Basic | £55 per sleep inDURATION:Temp – PermHOURS:                         Fulltime – every other weekend off and X2 sleeps-ins per week                 (Shifts:Early 8.30am-3.30pm | Late 2.30pm–10pm | Sleep-in 10pm-7am) Note: WE ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE SPONSORSHIP OR SUPPORT THOSE ON A SKILLED WORKER VISA. Daily Duties
  • You would be working for a charity that supports clients with mixed mental health conditions with the aim to have them successfully moved on within a 2-year period.
  • Establish and maintain relationships of trust with service users, to build engagement
  • Help service users to set, prioritise and achieve goals, managing their tenancies and move-on.
  • Carry out assessments and determine urgency of service user needs.
  • Work with professionals from other agencies, and make onward referrals, linking service users into community opportunities.
  • Carry out risk assessments, in order to keep service users safe and improve the quality of our support.
  • Work with service users on a 1:1 basis and in groups.
  • Assist service users to deal with financial issues and navigate the benefits and education systems.
  • Assist service users to manage friendships and family relationships.
  • Assist service users to manage their medication.
  • Accompany service users to appointments.
  • Encourage positive choices around food, leisure etc.
  • Assist service users to undertake domestic tasks such as cooking and cleaning, ensuring adherence to infection control (training provided).
  • Assist service users with personal care as and when required.
  • Make timely records which are concise, accurate, written for the service user to understand, using Together computer-based systems.
  • Write clear word processed and handwritten reports (training provided) and records.
  • Maintain professional boundaries in all aspects of work with service users.
Essential requirements
  • Previous residential support
  • Enhanced DBS within the last 12 months.
Desirable requirements
  • Knowledge of working with those with mixed mental health conditions
