Summary of Role

You will oversee the collection, analysis and consolidation of financial data to ensure the effective management of Hall & Kay finances. You will play a pivotal role in the maintenance of financial controls, processes and systems and ensure that these are in line with statutory requirements.

What you will be doing

  • Produce Profit and Loss statements by location and other relevant metrics monthly.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify exceptional movements.
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable/Credit Control and Accounts Payable teams.
  • Manage Financial Accounts, Payroll/Time sheet management, and Fleet Costs.
  • Ensure tight cash control and maximisation of receipts.
  • Conduct new customer credit checks and monitor credit limits.
  • Check & approve bank & supplier account reconciliations.
  • Manage company wide customer rebate schemes.
  • Assess systems and procedures for potential fraud.
  • Expenses and Payroll Management (approvals, reconcile reports, calculate bonuses)
  • Handle VAT, PAYE, Class 1A reconciliations and payments. Manage sub contractor tax schedules and payments.
  • Prepare statutory accounts and work with auditors to ensure timely filing.
  • Manage external auditors during interim and final audits. Complete all required government official statistics.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA) (essential).
  • Proven experience in a similar financial control role (essential).
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Excellent team management and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and financial software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in the Fire Engineering industry or Construction industry would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS office packages in particular Excel
  • Familiarity with government statistical reporting requirements.
