Do you have experience working in residential conveyancing? Our client could have the perfect opportunity for you! A new position has become available for an ambitious, and career focused Legal Assistant. The successful candidate will be a highly organised an analytical individual with a strong attention to detail. You will need to be proactive, and use your own initiative, ensuring high levels of confidentiality at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting fee earners with the production of correspondence and other documents, instructions being provided verbally, and via digital dictation.
  • Communicating with clients to give and gather information to progress their case via email, letter, telephone and in person.
  • Opening and closing files in accordance with the firm’s stated procedures.
  • Dealing with incoming emails, faxes, phone calls and correspondence for fee earners to include allocation to the relevant files and case management system.
  • Maintaining departmental diaries/calendars to ensure key dates are noted and staff are in the correct place at the right time to satisfy client requirements.
  • Ensuring an effective file review system is in place and is followed in every case being handled.
  • Dealing with financial issues such as costing files, ensuring payments on account are made, credit control measures are followed, and incoming and outgoing payments are recorded properly on the firm’s accounts package.
  • Ensuring files are managed in accordance with the firm’s written standards to ensure compliance with the Solicitors Code of Conduct in respect of client care, money laundering, complaints handling etc.

Person Specification:

  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent to include English and Math's are essential.
  • High level of proficiency in; word processing, Excel spreadsheets, time recording, email, case management.
  • Knowledge of legal practices and the legal sector, with specific understanding of the Conveyancing.
  • Ability to produce correspondence and other documents on own initiative as well as under instruction.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
  • Excellent keyboard, copy typing and audio typing skills.
  • Problem solving, a positive and friendly team player, and a ‘can do’ attitude, particularly in relation to digital ways of working.
  • Our successful candidate will be a very personable, energetic, and confident individual who has excellent administration and organisation skills.
