Position Summary
The Team Leader is responsible for managing operators, assemblers, and cell leaders to ensure efficient and productive operations. The role involves directing resources to maximise output while maintaining quality and safety standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting or exceeding key performance metrics and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and self-development.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee quality and quantity of production in one or multiple departments.
- Ensure safety, productivity, quality, and housekeeping targets are achieved.
- Plan and fulfil production targets according to schedules.
- Participate in New Product Introduction processes.
- Manage attendance and performance across multiple shopfloor functions.
- Lead and be accountable for team deliverables, including cost, quality, delivery, and safety.
- Liaise with internal and external colleagues to agree on achievable manufacturing plans.
- Schedule weekly customer requirements and ensure stock deliveries align with production plans.
- Facilitate, coach, and mentor team members through change and improvements.
- Provide cover for other Team Leaders and functional managers when required.
- Support, manage, and guide Cell Leaders.
- Escalate risks and issues in a timely manner.
- Promote a Zero Incident Culture and maintain high housekeeping standards.
- Monitor and manage individual performance, attendance, and timekeeping.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum 3 years' experience managing people in a manufacturing/production environment.
- Management Qualification (NVQ4 or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and New Product Introduction Process.
- Ability to participate in internal and external corrective action processes.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Good physical condition to work on the production floor, including lifting or moving materials as required.
