Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to join our team and drive the health, safety, and environmental initiatives across our site. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, promoting a safe working environment, and continuously improving the site's performance in line with the company's EHS strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure full legal compliance for health and safety in the workplace by conducting regular audits and inspections to maintain the highest standards.
- Lead training sessions for both new and existing staff, identifying opportunities for staff development and improvement.
- Implement continuous improvement techniques to enhance health, safety, and environmental performance and management systems.
- Investigate incidents promptly, performing root cause analysis and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Assist with the creation, implementation, and review of Risk Assessments, safe working procedures, and method statements.
- Deliver and support the company's Health and Safety strategy and initiatives across the site.
- Stay up-to-date with all relevant legislation and ensure compliance with any changes.
- Review and update company Health & Safety documentation in line with statutory obligations, including CDM Regulations.
- Ensure that all necessary assessments are conducted and reviewed within relevant intervals.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits, preparing detailed health and safety audit reports.
- Review and update RAMS and COSHH assessments where necessary.
- Lead investigations into accidents and near-miss incidents, documenting findings and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
- Coordinate and lead Health & Safety training initiatives across the business.
- Assist the Pre-Construction Team with Health & Safety Questionnaires.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards, and ensure that all relevant matters are handled with available company resources.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, managing health, safety, and environmental concerns.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) is highly preferred.
- Experience managing a site within HSE, with demonstrable results in driving improvements and changes.
- Strong ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- A positive, friendly, and driven attitude, with an ability to act as a change agent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to lead by example and engage effectively with staff at all levels.
