Job Description:

A vibrant and supportive primary school located in Hanworth, Middlesex, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Special Learning Difficulties (SLD) Teaching Assistant to join their team. The role is to begin in January and will involve working with students who have a range of special educational needs (SEN), including those with severe learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

- Providing one-to-one support and small group work for children with SLD and other SEN to ensure they can access the curriculum effectively.
- Assisting in the development of students' educational, social, and life skills, promoting independence wherever possible.
- Managing and catering to various personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and dressing as required.
- Creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, and encouraging learning environment for all students.
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and SENCO to implement and support individual education plans (IEPs).
- Monitoring and recording the progress of students and providing feedback to relevant parties.
- Assisting in adapting materials and equipment to meet the needs of students with SLD.
- Participating in relevant professional development and training opportunities.

Requirements:

- Previous experience working with children with SLD and other SEN in an educational setting is essential.
- Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Skilled in managing challenging behaviours and using de-escalation techniques effectively.
- An understanding and patient approach to the individual needs of students.
- The ability to communicate effectively with children, colleagues, and parents.
- Enhanced DBS check on update service (or willing to undergo a check).
