Group Financial Controller
  • Location: Harlow, Essex, with occasional travel to Central London

This role offers the opportunity to lead the accounts function and interact regularly with senior management, including the CEO and Finance Director. Based primarily in the client's Harlow office, you will oversee a diverse range of financial operations, ensuring the company’s financial health and compliance.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Financial Management: Oversee all day-to-day accounting activities for the company and group. Prepare detailed monthly management accounts including balance sheet, cash flow, and overhead analysis for delivery to the Finance Director, Board, and group.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Take charge of the annual budget and monthly forecasts, ensuring financial targets are met and adjusted according to company needs.
  • Cash and Treasury Management: Manage group cash flow forecasting, daily banking requirements, and primary banking relationships. Handle foreign currency transactions and company credit cards.
  • Stock and Asset Management: Maintain responsibility for physical stock valuation, cost of sales calculations, and periodic reviews of stock obsolescence.
  • Payroll and HR Oversight: Manage monthly payroll operations (excluding processing), ensure accurate and timely pension payments, and handle annual company insurance and PllD reporting.
  • Tax and Compliance: Oversee monthly VAT returns for the UK and Germany, assist with corporate tax preparations, and ensure compliance with HMRC and other tax offices. Manage the audit process and the creation and filing of statutory accounts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a similar financial leadership role, ideally with stock management exposure
  • Strong competency in managing a comprehensive accounts function, including direct reports across various financial disciplines.
  • Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements in the UK, Germany, and the US.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with senior management and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
