Production Technician - Packaging / Production

  • Starting salary: £27,000 PA, increasing to £30,000 PA after probationary period
  • Permanent position
  • Location: Harlow, Essex
  • Working Hours: Early & Late Shift Pattern
  • Monday to Friday - 07.00am-3.00pm and 3.00pm- 11.00pm

We are looking for a Production Technician, ideally with experience gained with operating production machinery within the dry raw materials/ingredients production sector.

You will support production through consistent monitoring, quality checks and successfully manage a safe working environment and manufacture of quality product solutions to the customer.

This will include machine operating, focused on keeping all work areas clean and the equipment running at peak efficiency.

Full training will be provided to help you excel in this role.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Health & Safety - to proactively manage to ensure that a safe working environment exists for all employees in the operation and that as a minimum you and the team meets the standards set out in the company Health and Safety policy
  • Quality Standards - to drive standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within the packing area through good manufacturing practice (GMP) to ensure the both the business and customer standards are kept and audit requirements are fully met and audit ready every day.
  • Performance management - to manage the performance using performance systems.
  • Training and development - to own the training and development of members of the team. Actively coach, develop and train team members to the required level of competence to encourage continuous improvement within the business
  • Performance improvement through use of KPIs - challenges and measures performance through KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Resource management - plan, organise and measure labour and material requirements within the packing area to ensure that both short and long term targets are met
  • Communication - manages the communication process in their area to ensure that the workforce in their area is well informed on relevant business news and to encourage effective cross functional links and channels of communication are clear and available

Skills / Experience Required:

  • FFS (Form, Fill, Seal) packing experience.
  • Dry raw materials/ingredients like grains, rice, flour or spices experience is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good PC / systems utilisation skills.
  • Good understanding of SAP or similar.
