Job Title: Housing Officer (Fire Safety)

Location: Harlow

Salary: 36,124 - 37,938 per annum

Job type: Full Time, permanent

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week (banking 30 minutes per week towards the shut down between Christmas and New Year)

Are you a motivated and experienced housing professional looking for the opportunity to work proactively in a friendly, efficient and effective customer focused environment?

If so, Harlow Council is looking to recruit two full-time Housing Officers specialising in Fire Safety.

The Harlow Housing Service is moving forward and as a Housing Officer (Fire Safety) you will work as part of a team, directly responsible for fire safety matters across the town.

You will be directly responsible for the service delivery of areas such as:

  • Breaches of tenancy conditions relating to fire safety issues
  • Ensuring fire safety recommendations are completed within agreed timescales
  • Working closely with the Fire Service to reduce the risk of fire at council owned properties
  • Providing advice and assistance on fire safety matters
  • The post holder will be responsible for ensuring service standards and high levels of customer satisfaction are achieved.

You should have:

  • A sound working knowledge and experience of housing management gained in social housing or the voluntary sector
  • A clear understanding of current housing and fire safety legislation and regulation
  • Experience of working with the Fire Service and other fire experts on fire safety matters

You will possess good communication, administration, IT and problem solving skills, demonstrating an ability to work in a busy and demanding environment. You will have experience working within a pressurised, customer focused environment; coupled with the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically at all levels.

You will need to be available to work or attend meetings outside normal working hours. A driving licence and access to a car or other satisfactory means of transport is required for this post.
