Financial Accountant

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Financial Accountant to join our Finance Team, reporting to the Financial Controller. This role is crucial for supporting Trust-wide financial control and reporting, with a focus on year-end processes and audit preparations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support the Principal Financial Accountant in the production and development of financial analysis for Trust Management and Board papers, ensuring all information is accurate and timely.
  • Assist in ensuring robust financial reporting systems and processes are in place for the Senior Finance Team and external stakeholders.
  • Handle monthly VAT submissions and coordinate responses to VAT queries.
  • Assist in the annual insurance renewal process and take the lead on specific processes and exercises for the completion of statutory financial reports.
  • Maintain and monitor information across various databases, ensuring accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Process month-end journals, perform variance analysis, and review financial information regularly.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, providing financial advice in line with policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • AAT Qualified (Level 4) or equivalent.
  • Significant experience in accounting, preferably within a large organisation.
  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to organise and prioritise workload.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with Oracle or similar systems is ideal.
  • Knowledge of NHS financial regimes is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of balance sheets and experience in reconciliation.
