Development Chemist - Organic Synthesis required, based in North Yorkshire. Minimum degree in Chemistry (or similar) required, as well as proven industrial experience of organic synthetic chemistry.

SRG are working with a UK-based speciality chemical manufacturer who supply their products to a global market. They are now looking to hire a Development Chemist in Organic Synthesis to join the team based at their laboratories in North Yorkshire. This will involve supporting in progressing the product portfolio through developing both new and existing products. The successful candidate will be running their own development projects, whilst also collaborating as a team when required to see projects through to completion. Prospective candidates should hold a degree in Chemistry or similar and have proven industrial experience of organic synthetic chemistry.

Role / Description

  • Execution of planned projects within the R&D programme, setting timelines, delivering, and reporting results in a timely manner.
  • Process scale-up and transfer from R&D to manufacturing operations, both internal and external.
  • Developing and evaluating new synthetic chemistry procedures and manufacturing processes.
  • Running routine analytical tests.
  • Providing support for internal and external manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain a clean working environment and general housekeeping.
  • Sample administration, packing of samples and dispatching, waste disposal.
  • Working safely; using and understanding existing COSHH and risk assessments and writing new COSHH and risk assessments for the work undertaken. Following quality procedures, safety procedure and SOPs.
  • Be fully committed to following the quality system along with the safety and regulatory requirements of the business.

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry or similar relevant discipline
  • Proven industrial experience of organic synthetic chemistry
  • Adaptable and pro-active work ethic
