I am currently working with a SEMH school in the Harrogate area seeking highly dedicated and experienced full-time SEMH Teaching Assistants. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for pupils facing a range of emotional and social challenges.

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess a strong understanding of de-escalation techniques to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide individual and small group support to learners with SEMH needs.
  • Work closely with teachers and other professionals to implement effective strategies in line with a learner's EHCP.
  • Utilise a range of techniques to manage challenging behaviour, promote emotional regulation, and develop positive social skills.
  • Encourage and support learners' participation in classroom activities and social interactions.
  • Maintain clear boundaries while fostering a positive and nurturing atmosphere.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a positive behaviour support system.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs in a school or other educational setting.
  • A calm and patient demeanour, with a strong understanding of de-escalation techniques.
  • Ability to follow and implement structured support plans while adapting to individual learner needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with learners, families, and colleagues.
  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle to travel to the school in Harrogate.
  • A TeamTeach qualification (or willingness to attend training).
  • Must have a UK driving licence
