Emotional Wellbeing Teaching Assistant

Monday - Friday (8:30am - 3:30pm)

NextGen Teachers are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a School based in Harrogate who are looking for an Emotional Wellbeing Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible on a full-time permanent basis supporting students with SEMH needs. The successful candidate will have not only a strong set of skills to support children with advanced needs, but also have qualities and experience that are at an advanced level.

Emotional Wellbeing Teaching Assistant roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the planning of learning activities by identifying and preparing resources required to support lesson plans and learning outcomes.
  • Assisting pupils' achievements by monitoring, supporting and having strong communication with class teacher.
  • Lead individual/small groups of children in teacher-led learning activities such as guiding reading, phonics and math's interventions as well as creative and tactile physical learning.
  • Maintain upkeep of classroom resources and preparation of materials (e.g. books, pencils, art supplies, games, P.E activity set up etc.)
  • Support children with their independence and confidence both inside and outside of the classroom
  • Support the children's social, emotional and physical development by creating a safe environment for learning with the use of strong behaviour management skills.

Emotional Wellbeing Teaching Assistant Non-Negotiables:

  • Must have recent and relevant experience working with children and young people in an educational setting.
  • Must possess good numeracy and literacy skills in line with the Primary National Curriculum.
  • Must have recent experience working with children with SEN and SEMH needs and be able to handle direct strong verbal language and extreme challenging behaviours.
  • Must have the ability to work well under the guidance of the class teacher and have good team player attributes.
  • Must have a passion for education and the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
  • Be comfortable and flexible with an adapted structure of learning based both indoors and outdoors.
  • Comfortable with animals due to on-site animals that support the children's wellbeing.
