Our client is a fast growing, family-owned business in the beauty sector with annual turnover of £20m and significant growth potential. Operating across the UK and US, the company is expanding rapidly and they ae now looking for a highly skilled and proactive Financial Controller to join their team. This is an exciting time to join the company, with the potential for equity in the company, offering long-term financial and career growth.

As Financial Controller, you will oversee and manage the financial operations of the business in both the UK and US. This is a hands-on position where you will take charge of management accounts, financial reporting, cash flow, and budgeting while playing a pivotal role in preparing the company for future capital-raising activities.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a driven individual to contribute directly to the company’s growth and have a lasting impact. You will work closely with senior management, and as the company scales, you will have the opportunity to grow into a more senior role with potential equity participation.

Key Duties:

  • Management Accounts: Manage the preparation and timely delivery of monthly management accounts for both UK and USA operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting.
  • Financial Reporting: Produce comprehensive financial statements, reports, and variance analysis for senior leadership and investors.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring they align with the company's strategic goals and growth projections.
  • Cash Flow Management: Oversee and manage cash flow, ensuring the business remains in a strong financial position during its growth phase.
  • Sage Systems: Manage and optimize the Sage accounting system to ensure smooth, efficient financial operations. Ensure all records are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Private Capital Support: Assist in preparing the financial data required for raising private capital and engage in investor-related financial presentations.
  • Financial Controls & Compliance: Ensure that financial controls are robust, and all processes are compliant with UK and US regulations.
  • Tax & Audit: Oversee tax compliance and manage relationships with external auditors, ensuring all statutory requirements are met.
  • Investor Relations: Play a key role in preparing investor-ready financials and be a point of contact for investor queries.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Lead and contribute to various financial and operational projects that support the business's continued expansion.

Requirements:

  • Proven Experience: 5-7 years of experience as a Financial Controller or senior Management Accountant, preferably in a fast-growing business environment. Experience with UK and US accounting is highly desirable.
  • Sage Expertise: Proficiency in Sage accounting software is essential. Experience in optimizing systems and processes is a plus.
  • Hands-On Approach: A proactive, hands-on approach to financial management, including data input, reconciliations, and detailed analysis.
  • Financial Reporting Expertise: Demonstrable experience in preparing management accounts, financial reports, and presenting to senior leadership.
  • Growth Mindset: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and contribute strategically to the business’s future success.
  • Private Capital Exposure: Experience in supporting businesses through capital-raising processes or working with private equity/venture capital is highly advantageous.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse financial data and make actionable recommendations to improve performance and support growth.
  • Qualified Accountant: ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Excellent Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
