REED Practice are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper with extensive knowledge of Xero, Sage and QuickBooks. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in bookkeeping, VAT returns, and client management, preferably with practice experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and liaising directly with them to ensure their accounting needs are met efficiently and effectively.
Day-to-day of the role:- Set up Xero from the start of process for client including adding bank feeds and processing transactions.
- Utilise Dext and Hubdoc for efficient document management and transaction processing.
- Perform monthly reconciliations and prepare VAT returns, including non-standard schemes like Flat Rate and the Margin Scheme.
- Review management accounts and produce a finalised year-end Trial Balance for annual accounts compilation.
- Advise clients on how to effectively use Xero, including issuing sales invoices.
- Handle bookkeeping using Sage and QuickBooks as required.
- Process VAT registrations and manage bookkeeping queries raised by outsourcers.
- Maintain effective communication with clients through phone, in-person meetings, or virtually.
- Review and control work in progress to manage chargeable time and meet deadlines.
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant bookkeeping experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Xero, and reasonable experience with Sage and QuickBooks.
- Familiarity with various VAT schemes, including Flat Rate and the Margin Scheme.
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
- Practice experience is highly desirable, indicating a capability to manage a client portfolio.
- Experience in dealing with outsourcers and managing detailed bookkeeping work.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in professional client interactions.
- Ability to manage deadlines and review work progress effectively.
