Deputy Manager – Children's and Young Adults' Services
Location: Harrow, North West London
Salary: £30,500 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Manager to oversee the daily operations of our services for children and young adults with learning disabilities and complex needs. You will work closely with the Children & Young Adults Service Manager to ensure high-quality outcomes, supporting a team of permanent and sessional special needs play workers.
Key Responsibilities

Programme Development:
Design and deliver empowering activity programmes, including storytelling, dance, drama, music, cooking, arts and crafts, sports, group games, messy play, and community outings. -
Care and Support:
Provide care for children with high support needs, including managing distressed behaviours, either at our centre, in the community, or within family homes. Adhere to our policies and procedures to ensure safety and quality at all times. -
Leadership and Administration:
- Manage staff rotas to ensure optimal coverage.
- Support the booking process and handle schedule changes for children.
- Liaise with parents and professionals to ensure children’s care and safeguarding needs are met.
- Organise day-to-day operations and long-term plans, fostering strong communication with staff and senior management. Maintain accurate and thorough records.

Financial Management:
- Efficiently manage staff hours to meet service needs while maintaining financial sustainability.
- Support budget management and ensure spending aligns with organisational goals.

Compliance and Safeguarding:
- Ensure the organisation meets Ofsted standards and achieves excellent outcomes in internal and external audits.
- Implement the Positive Behaviour Support framework to promote best practices.

Essential Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in childcare, education, youth work, or a similar field.
- At least 1 year of experience in a role with line management responsibilities.
- A Level 3 qualification in childcare, youth work, or a related area.
- Knowledge and understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- A clear understanding of safeguarding practices to protect children and young adults.
- Awareness of Health & Safety regulations and experience in risk management.
