- Lead daily inspection and enforcement regimes under the New Roads and Street Works Act, the Highways Act, and related safety inspections.
- Enforce relevant legislation, issuing formal notices, coordinating with the Police, Council departments, and partner agencies.
- Supervise statutory undertakers’ works to ensure compliance with Council policies, and the delivery of the Council's Network Management Duty.
- Oversee highway safety inspections, ensuring that any identified issues are addressed in line with required standards.
- Represent the Council in public meetings, inquiries, and legal proceedings, providing technical guidance and ensuring compliance.
- Prepare reports and statements of evidence for legal cases and present findings in court when necessary.
- Collaborate with other sections, departments, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth and compliant street works and highways management.
- Expertise in the New Roads and Street Works Act and Traffic Management Act.
- Strong knowledge of the London Permit Scheme and highways safety codes of practice.
- Proven ability to carry out effective inspection regimes and enforcement actions.
- Experience with managing legal cases, including evidence preparation and court presentations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Strong IT skills with proficiency in word processing, presentation software, and database management.
- A relevant Street Works Supervisor qualification or significant relevant experience.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and respond rapidly to emergency situations.
- Flexibility to work outside of normal working hours when necessary.
