Murray McIntosh are delighted to be working with Energy UK. We are supporting their search for a Policy Manager which will join their Customers team.

They collaborate with a diverse membership base-including energy suppliers, power generators, and service providers in heat, transport, and power to shape and influence energy policy and standards.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Policy Manager to join their Customers Policy Team, focusing on retail policy related to consumer vulnerability and debt. This role presents a unique opportunity to drive significant change within the energy sector, ensuring that vulnerable customers receive the support they need and that high standards of customer service are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and propose policy positions that align with Energy UK's vision, particularly in consumer vulnerability and debt.
  • Draft position papers, consultation responses, and industry reports for submission to government and regulatory bodies.
  • Organise and support committees, working groups, and other relevant meetings, providing reports and updates as necessary.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including MPs, government officials, NGOs, policy think tanks, and consumer advocates.
  • Prepare briefing materials, meeting notes, and follow-up correspondence for high-level meetings.
  • Keep Energy UK members informed of developments in retail-related policies.
  • Manage the delivery of Energy UK's Vulnerability Commitment, working closely with its Chair to enhance support for vulnerable households.

Key Qualifications

  • Proven experience in policy development, particularly within the context of consumer vulnerability or social policy.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills with the ability to handle complex issues and drive impactful change.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in drafting high-quality reports and briefings.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • A passion for social policy and enhancing customer service standards for vulnerable populations.
