We are currently working with a 3-form entry primary school, based in Harrow, who are looking for a passionate and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact on the educational journey of young children and support them in reaching their full potential.

About the role:

As an HLTA, you will work closely with class teachers to deliver high-quality teaching and learning support across the school. You will be responsible for planning and delivering small group interventions, providing support in the classroom, and helping to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide whole-class and small group support across various subjects and age groups.
  • Lead and plan interventions for pupils, focusing on areas such as literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to monitor and track the progress of pupils, providing feedback and support as necessary.
  • Create and adapt learning resources to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Support children in both their academic learning and personal development.
  • Assist in the delivery of lessons, ensuring that all students are engaged and able to access the curriculum.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment, promoting positive behaviour and inclusivity.
  • Mentor and support other teaching assistants, sharing best practices and strategies.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Significant experience supporting children in an educational setting, ideally as a HLTA or experienced teaching assistant.
  • A passion for working with children and helping them achieve their potential.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to support a variety of learners.
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent (or experience demonstrating HLTA responsibilities).
  • Knowledge and understanding of the primary school curriculum and strategies to support diverse learning needs.
  • A clear understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment.
