Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Harrow, HA2, seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with additional needs. Key responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a Year 4 pupil with additional needs, helping them access learning in class
- Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement in lessons
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning materials to meet the child's needs
- Use visual timetables, social stories, and reward charts to reinforce positive behaviour and learning progress
- Assist with personal care if required and promote independence in daily activities
- Support small group interventions in maths, literacy, and social skills development
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly ASD or speech and language difficulties
- A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children
- Confidence in using visual supports, structured interventions, and behaviour strategies
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- A relevant qualification (Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning) is desirable but not essential
