The Role:

As a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with speech and communication difficulties, working closely with teachers and therapists to implement targeted interventions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering small group and one-on-one speech and language intervention sessions

  • Supporting students with SEN needs, including speech delays, autism, and social communication difficulties

  • Assisting class teachers with differentiated lesson plans to support communication development

  • Implementing strategies recommended by speech and language therapists to enhance student progress

  • Monitoring student progress and adapting support strategies accordingly

  • Collaborating with teachers, SEN coordinators, and parents to create effective support plans



What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with a focus on speech and language support

  • Knowledge of speech and language intervention strategies, such as PECS, Makaton, or ELKLAN (desirable but not essential)

  • Experience supporting students with SEN needs, including autism and speech delays

  • Strong communication skills and a patient, proactive approach to learning support

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
