Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Harrow, HA2, seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with additional needs. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded school where staff are valued, and pupils are supported to reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a Year 4 pupil with additional needs, helping them access learning in class
  • Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement in lessons
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning materials to meet the child's needs
  • Use visual timetables, social stories, and reward charts to reinforce positive behaviour and learning progress
  • Assist with personal care if required and promote independence in daily activities
  • Support small group interventions in maths, literacy, and social skills development

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly ASD or speech and language difficulties
  • A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children
  • Confidence in using visual supports, structured interventions, and behaviour strategies
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A relevant qualification (Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning) is desirable but not essential
