About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher to join this supportive and dynamic team at a specialist SEN school in Hassocks. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons to meet the diverse needs of students with SEND, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and other complex needs.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support individual learning styles and abilities.
  • Create a nurturing, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff to provide holistic support.
  • Develop and implement EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) targets and monitor student progress.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS (applications from ECTs welcome).
  • Experience working with children and young people with SEND, particularly in a specialist setting - Ideally
  • A strong understanding of differentiation, behaviour management strategies, and alternative communication methods.
  • Passionate about supporting students with additional needs to reach their full potential.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
