Our client is looking for an experienced CNC Sliding Head Turner to join their busy production facility in Hastings. The position will be working on a rotating shift pattern, with shift allowance included in the annual salary.

The successful applicant will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience operating a range of CNC Lathes, experience in sliding head machining, this must include the ability to program and set the machinery.

Main Duties

  • Load/unload parts, distinguishing and identifying proper tooling/collets/fixtures
  • Programming and set up CNC to complete new product and different functions
  • Change the tooling of the CNC machines
  • Observe machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometer and dial caliper
  • Adjust machine control, including part process
  • As agreed, inspects tools for sharpness and usability, deburr and report concerns to Supervisor
  • Verify "first piece inspection" using appropriate measuring instruments
  • Post edit CNC programme to "fine tune" process for optimum performance
  • Generally, monitor the work being undertaken and completed, testing and taking critical measurements to identify problems and the need for adjustment and to immediately make any adjustments as necessary
  • Undertake CNC, inspection, maintenance, and cleaning (including fluid check etc)
  • Maintain accurate data/records/documentation associated with your work
  • Carry out planned tasks in accordance with contract/agreed requirements on services and associated systems
  • Carry out tasks within allotted time limits
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, policies and procedures, codes, and legislation including Health and Safety
  • Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its clients/customers to the Supervisor
  • Contribute towards the smooth running of the team
  • Adhere to all organisation policies and procedures

Qualification’s Skills and Experience

  • NVQ in engineering or a similar related qualification
  • Must have solid background in Sliding Head CNC Turning
  • Ability to program, set and operate CNC lathes machinery
  • Confident using machine controls for program, setting and operating
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within CNC working environment
  • Knowledge of CNC machinery, tools, equipment, and materials
  • CNC knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations
  • To understand and deliver good customer service
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • To have pride in the work place

Working Hours

  • Expected hours: 39 per week, Mondays to Fridays
  • Rotating shift pattern, 06.00 to 14.00 and 14.00 to 22.00
