About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled BMC Product Expert with in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in configuring and setting up a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) using BMC Atrium. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of practical experience in CMDB configuration, best practices, and leveraging a CMDB to support and enhance internal configuration management processes. This role is remote based with occasional visits to the office and can be on a contract or permanent basis.


Key Responsibilities:

CMDB Configuration & Setup:

  • Configure and manage BMC Atrium CMDB to ensure accurate representation of IT infrastructure and services.

  • Customise the CMDB to support business requirements, ensuring data is effectively modelled and stored.

  • Define and implement CMDB data models, classes, attributes, and relationships in line with best practices.


Data Integration & Management:

  • Oversee the integration of data sources into the CMDB, ensuring data consistency, quality, and completeness.

  • Design and implement automated data reconciliation processes to maintain data accuracy.

  • Collaborate with other teams to develop and maintain integrations with discovery tools, such as BMC Discovery, and other data sources.


Process Management:

  • Establish and enforce CMDB policies, processes, and standards to support IT

  • Service Management (ITSM) objectives.

  • Develop and implement processes for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of CMDB data.

  • Support Change, Incident, Problem, and Asset Management processes by ensuring the CMDB provides accurate and timely information.


Reporting & Analysis:

  • Develop and produce CMDB reports, dashboards, and metrics to provide insights into the CMDB's effectiveness and health.

  • Identify opportunities for improving CMDB utilisation and recommend process improvements.


Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with IT, Service Management, and other stakeholders to ensure the CMDB meets organisational needs.

  • Provide expert guidance and training to internal teams on CMDB best practices and effective utilisation.


Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to CMDB management.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives for the CMDB to enhance its overall effectiveness and alignment with business goals.


Qualifications & Experience:


Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with CMDB configuration, management, and best practices, specifically using BMC Atrium CMDB.


Technical Skills:

  • Proven expertise in BMC Atrium CMDB setup, configuration, customization, and administration.

  • Strong understanding of ITIL/ITSM processes and how the CMDB supports these processes.

  • Experience integrating CMDB with discovery tools (e.g., BMC Discovery,

  • SCCM) and other data sources.

  • Preferably experienced in SQL, data modelling, and data management practices.

  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure components (e.g., servers, networks, applications) and how they relate within the CMDB.


Certifications:

  • BMC Certified Professional or other relevant BMC certifications (e.g., BMC Atrium CMDB, BMC Remedy).

  • Minimum ITIL Foundation Certification, further ITIL Certification are highly desirable.


Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

  • Demonstrated ability to implement CMDB best practices and drive process improvements.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with BMC Remedy ITSM Suite.

  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or other CMDB tools.

  • Experience in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and understanding of how they integrate with a CMDB
