Working as part of a close knit engineering team, the Maintenance Shift Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance of site equipment and infrastructure (excluding refrigeration) for the Hawes site. This will cover the maintenance of our state of the art cheesemaking equipment, planned preventative maintenance and ensuring that site facilities and equipment function with optimal efficiencies.


The role will also cover, as and when required, project engineering for the build, installation and commissioning of new processing and production lines, or the movement and installation of lines at the Hawes manufacturing site. As well as mechanical maintenance of all processing lines, this role will have a particular emphasis on electrical maintenance relating to motors, drives, electrical paneling and PLC control units.


You will make contributions by:


  • The maintenance of all plant machinery and equipment, using external support where necessary, including: Cheese making, processing, bulk milk storage, pasteurisation, processing and packing equipment
  • The maintenance of site infrastructure, where appropriate.
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance routines (PPM)
  • Help with project engineering, installations and commissioning of new and second-hand equipment.
  • On-call duties as part of a rota system (currently not in place)
  • Site engineering support.

You're best suited for the role if you are:

  • An electrically biased multi-skilled engineer with an HNC or HND background.
  • Able to demonstrate hands-on reactive experience with a broad range of equipment and machinery within a production and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Able to demonstrate working experience with lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • A strong communicator who values team-work.
  • Able to use your own initiative to solve problems and act decisively
