Audit & Accounts Manager - About The Role
As an Audit & Accounts Manager, you will play a key role in leading audit and accounts engagements, managing a diverse portfolio of clients, and developing the firm’s growing team. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of assignments from planning to completion, while also mentoring and supporting junior staff.
Responsibilities will include:
- Actively managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring deadlines are met, work is within budget, and jobs are finalised to minimise partner review time
- Managing a mix of Audit, Accounts, and Corporate Tax
- Planning jobs and organising assignments to ensure efficiency and timely completion
- Fully understanding clients’ businesses and addressing any issues they face
- Taking an active role in leadership of the General Practice team, supporting Partners with office management
- Ensuring work aligns with ISO 9001 procedures
- Providing clear instruction and constructive feedback to staff in a timely manner
- Acting as a training manager and mentor to allocated trainees
- Motivating staff and managing informal issues, escalating more serious matters as necessary
- Producing training materials and presenting training on various topics
- Participating in business development, maintaining current client relationships, and establishing new opportunities
- Assisting with the preparation and presentation of new client pitches
- Taking responsibility for billing procedures and debt collection in liaison with the client partner
- Contributing ideas to improve efficiency and service quality
The successful Audit & Accounts Manager will have:
- ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent)
- Proven experience managing a portfolio of audit and accounts clients.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience supervising and mentoring audit teams
- Extensive knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards, including UK GAAP, FRS 102, and IFRS
- Experience leading audits from planning to completion, including group audits
- Commercial awareness and the ability to provide strategic, client-focused advice
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement
